Norse Shamanism

The spiritual healing practices of ancient Scandinavia have been shrouded in a secretive mystique that was only shared with those with a strong calling to step onto the path of the wise ones.

Norse Shamanism is a deeply nourishing spiritual practice. Healers and mystics have resurfaced in modern times to bring healing to individuals and communities. They help humanity to thrive. Through divination practices, healing ceremonies, magic and trance work, Norse Shamanic Practitioners (Volva, Sedikona and Seidrman) uncover what is out of balance. They restore harmony and create healing for all.

The practices of Norse Shamanism enrich your life by transforming the mundane into the sacred wellspring of deep connection to the spirit of life.

What is Seidr (Seiðr)?

For many centuries, the Norse have had rich spiritual healing practices that were steeped in magic, mysticism and prophesy called Seidr (seiðr). Every village had a seidr practitioner called a Volva, Seiðkona, or Seiðmaðr. These practitioners would sing songs called varðlokhur to go into a trance state. They journeyed into the spirit realms, to contact helping spirits and performed healing sessions for people who were ill and acted as oracles for divination.

These practitioners worked with a seiðstafr, a sacred wooden staff adorned with special symbols and gemstones or a metal staff. This staff was used in healing rituals to help channel healing energy to someone who was sick, to cleanse negative energies that led to illness and to restore vital energy to the person creating the conditions needed to return to wellness.

The Seidr practitioners were a vital source of healing, wisdom and support for the community and helped the community to thrive. The healing art of Seidr has been revived and adapted for modern life. It helps us deal with the challenges and illnesses that we face in our contemporary lives and restores people, communities and the earth back to wholeness.
