How to Honour Norse Goddess Freyja In Seidr Practice.

Goddess Freya The Norse Goddess Of Magic In Seidr

Who Is Norse Goddess Freyja (Freya)?

Norse Goddess Freyja is associated with love, beauty, fertility, Seidr and magic. She is a radiant goddess that wears a cloak of falcon feathers which allows the wearer to fly and a magical necklace forged by the Dwarves called Brísingamen. Freya travels in a chariot pulled by two large cats. She taught the Gods the shamanic practice of Seidr, prophesy, divination and magic. Freyja also blessed couples, marriages and childbirth.

Why Honour The Norse Goddess Freyja?

In practices of Seidr in Norse shamanism, connecting to Goddess Freyja and honouring her can bring in beautiful sacred blessings from her into your life. Her blessings can infuse you with strength, courage, beauty when you feel down on yourself, bless your romantic relationships and bless your family life. Connecting to Goddess Freyja’s energy can help you to embody empowered divine feminine energy and empower your sense of self.

How To Honour The Norse Goddess Freyja In Seidr Practices And Receive Her Blessings

  1. Learn more about Freya from reading the stories of Norse Mythology. Not only will this help to honour her, but this will begin to form a sacred relationship to her as you get to know her. By learning more about her, this can please Goddess Freyja very much and then she can bestow blessings upon you in return. By getting to know her, she will also get to know you.

  2. Create a shrine to Goddess Freyja: Set up a special space in your home to honour Freyja. Place a photo or a small statue of her and around it, place beautiful items that symbolize her such as fresh flowers, crystals (such as amber, rutilated quartz, labradorite, jet or rose quartz are good options as these crystals are associated with Freyja herself), falcon feathers, figurines/artwork of cats and items associated with love and beauty that have special significance to you. Also place a candle at the shrine and light the candle daily as you also give an offering in a small dish to her for her blessings to you. Good offerings are fresh fruits, sweet dried fruits, candies or grains.

  3. Once your shrine is set up, then you can thank Goddess Freyja for her help and you can say daily blessings to Freyja to connect to her healing energy. Speak these blessings from your heart centre. Quiet your mind, say your blessing and then be open to her presence so that you can receive her healing energies.

Blessing To Goddess Freyja

Here is a simple, yet powerful blessing that you can say when you light the candle at the shrine you created for Freyja:

“Dear Goddess Freyja of beauty, magic and strength. Thank you for infusing me with your blessings and healing energy to (now say what you are needing such as: to infuse me with strength or to infuse me with courage, to help me feel beautiful, to help me attract a beneficial love partner, to help me connect to my sensuality…etc). Thank you Freyja for surrounding me and infusing me with your love and healing energy. Thank you for blessing myself and my life. For this I thank you. In full faith, and so it is”.
